International Practice Survey:                                                                                              October 2019                                                                                                                              

World first international study of naturopathic practice completed

The International Naturopathic Practice Survey, funded by the WNF and conducted by Endeavour College of Natural Health, has been completed and submitted for publication.  This cross-sectional study was conducted in naturopathic clinics in 14 countries within 4 world regions with a focus on analyzing the patient and practice characteristic in the field of naturopathy.  We will let you know when the results are officially published. Thank you to the researchers responsible for this project: Dr Amie Steel, Rebecca Reid, Hope Foley, and Dr Janet Schloss. 

European Naturopathic Research Strategy Meeting

WNF’s first Research Strategy Meeting was held October 2nd, 2019 in Lyon, France. The meeting was organized and facilitated by Australia’s Dr. Amie Steel, ND MPH PHD. Joining her were Distinguished Professor Jon Adams, MA PHD, and Cherie Caut, ND BHSC(NAT) HONS MRMED.  Aesculape Naturopathic School welcomed 8 representatives from Europe. Please click for details. 

Communications Committee Launched

WNF Terminology Document:
Defining Naturopathic Terms

The WNF Naturopathic Roots Committee, Subcommittee Terminology, has completed the WNF Terminology Document: Defining Naturopathic Terms. Approved by the WNF Executive in August, the document will serve the profession by clarifying the definition of core naturopathic terms. It will also facilitate inter-professional collaboration with other health professions.

 

WNF Media Guide

Mastering Social Media is no longer an option if an organization wishes to be taken seriously and remain relevant.

In response to a request at the 2019 General Assembly, the WNF is pleased to offer its members a media guide.

The WNF Media Guide may found in the members’ section of our website. 

Naturopathic Books Project

The WNF will be updating the current list of naturopathic books later this fall. Please ask your members to submit any missing books to books@worldnaturopathicfederation.org

Botanical Adulterants Prevention Program 

The WNF is pleased to announce its endorsement of the ABC-AHP-NCNPR Botanical Adulterants Prevention Program (BAPP).

BAPP’s goal is to educate industry and the public about ingredient and product adulteration. 

The mandate of BAPP fits nicely with the goals of the WNF and we are pleased to support the BAPP initiative.

WNF Initiatives

WHO Working Group 

In August WNF President Iva Lloyd, ND attended the WHO Working Group Meeting on Training and Practice of Acupuncture and Tuina in Wuhan China. 

The official document from the WHO is expected to be published in 2020.

Naturopathic Community Clinics

The WNF is conducting a survey to explore the breadth and nature of community clinics globally.  We are currently at the first phase of assessing the number of community clinics available in naturopathic schools. 

If you offer community clinics or you are a naturopathic educational institution we encourage you to fill out the survey

We will follow up with a more detailed survey to all  schools / organizations that offer community clinics later in October.

WNF Membership Achievements

Portugal:  APNA is pleased to announce that as of September 4th their regulations were amended to allow additional time for naturopathic practitioners to apply for Professional Certification.  Thanks to the dedicated work of Noémia Rodrigues and others at APNA. 

 

USA: So far in 2019, the AANP has helped 2 additional states obtain regulation, and provides support to 18 other states in their regulatory efforts. To-date there are 22 US states and 3 US jurisdictions with regulation.
